Barcelona

BARCELONA

20130514-071433.jpgOf course Barcelona is about Gaudi. He died in 1926 but his architecture still sets the style in the city. We took a bike tour of the city which is the best way to see any major city in the world. They are big cruiser bikes anyone can ride which is born out by some of the people on the tours (not cyclists). We cruised the city stopping and learning about different sites.

20130514-072015.jpgThe Segrada Familia was started in 1878 and should be finished in 1930 or so. In person is is truly Gaudi, strange, very strange.

20130514-072503.jpgThe Gaudi Museum. He built houses for locals to raise money to build the Sacrada Familia and this one has been made into a museum. He is still considered an architectural genius.

Spain 2013

BILBAO, SPAIN HOME OF THE GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM

Finally arrived in Bilbao after broken planes and missed flights but it was worth it. As magnificent as the outside of the Guggenheim the inside outdoes it. Unfortunately the camera nazis are on every corner and leap if a camera appears so you’ll just have to come here to see it. I was here a few years ago and except for the first floor static displays all the artwork is new. Most of it is not what I like so my friend,Jill and I admired the building. I wish I had listened to the audio the first time because I appreciated the architecture much more this time. Off to Barcelona now.
